It is time for the latest Power Poppy digital release.
This amazing digital stamp “My Favorite Pair” is second in the series of vintage café au lait bowl bouquets from Power Poppy. This elegant creation from Marcella bring the warm feel of summer with a bit of old fashion to the table (pun intended).
How I colored it …
For this sweet digital, I printed the no-line version (there are multiple options) that will leave a more realistic feel when colored. It even comes with a sweet sentiment. I colored these African Violets in the blue/purple hues because I love the way that red and blue go together and I knew a red bow would stand out amongst them. I chose to color the pears a rosy yellow instead of the greens to allow them to pop out up against the rest of the image, I felt green pears might get lost.
If you have followed me for a while you know I love to frame in black, so I chose to bring the black into the image as well by coloring the bowl to compliment. Don’t forget to add little details. Cast shadows are very important. Sometimes card calls for little white dots (as seen in the photo) or black dots to make something stand out. It draws in the eye, don’t you think?. Its tiny details that bring an image full circle.
A bowl of fruit is not complete without a checkered tablecloth. When I was designing it I kept that in the back of my head and then found the perfect paper. Because I didn’t have any small black dot paper I just created my own using a 1.0 black Multiliner.
When assembling my card I used the Whimsy Stamps Hand Stitched Nested Rectangle die set. I wanted that little subtle detail that it gives to make the layers stand out.
Pick up Snowdrops and Tea Roses digital set to complete this line of digitals, and look for another café au lait bouquet coming in February.
