That’s Mr. Old Fart to You!

This set is so fun!  You might have seen the other card I created using the fun die, if not you can find it HERE.  The sentiments are perfect.  I decided for this card to turn it into a shaker card using the Whimsy Stamps new Wonky Window Frame, and added the “Old Fart” Whimsy die.  When coloring up the image I used the no-line technique.  I colored the yellow of his jacket first so I could texture it and make it look fluffy using a texture rag and Blending solution.

People ask me how I choose my colors for a project.  The first step is choose your image, (normally I color the skin and hair first), then I choose my paper.  I generally choose two fun pattern papers.  Sometime I use one…sometimes both.  I then grab cardstock to match.    Next I color the rest of the image to compliment the papers, gathering color inspiration from what he papers tell me…yes my paper talks.   For this card I colored some white cardstock and added dots…then added some more dots to the “old mans” shorts to match.  It really is fun finding papers that work together and then bringing the whole card together by matching the Copic colors to compliment it.

I would love to hear how you figure out how do color up your cards.  Do you pick paper first and then color to match?  Are you one that loves to color so much it doesn’t matter until it does…picking paper to match after you have colored your image?  I gotta know.

  2. So cute! I received the dies and stamps. Can’t wait to put it together. I’m fairly new to copics, so not sure how to do the “no line technique”?
