Time to celebrate!!  Simon Says Stamp is celebrating their 11th Anniversary of STAMPtember and it’s bigger and better than ever!  Today is a collaboration with Whimsy Stamps.  Just for this occasion these pugs were brought into existence, and you are going to get a kick out of this rascally gang!

Pugs, Christmas Cards, Card making, Whimsy Stamps, Simon Says Stamp

Creating this Card:

Stamp and mask, stamp and mask, stamp and mask…you know how that goes dont you?  Once the image was all stamped, I colored it up and cut out the outer edge of the image.  If you want to avoid all the masking, you can just stamp them individually, cut them out using the die set, and pile them together.

I wanted it to feel like they were a Christmas dog pile, in a snow globe.  This meant that the front needed to be curved.  That was the concept I was going for when I imagined this card.  Not sure thats how it turned out, but I still love the outcome.

When building this card these are the steps I took.  The Zigzag Rectangle dies were used to cut out a white embossed piece of cardstock.  Using foam tape I popped up the outer piece and adhered the inner piece onto black cardstock.  I didn’t adhere them to a card base just yet as I have more fiddling to do.

After stamping the Brushed Stripes background stamp in red, I cut it down.  Here is the trick to making it curved.  You want the piece to be wider than the width of the card by about 3/4″ – 1″ wider, then you score both sides about 1/4″ in, and fold the score under.  This 1/4″ folded piece is what you glue down to the card edge allowing for the extra to bow forward creating the curve.  After creating the front curve, and adding it to the card layers, I added a couple more layers with the scallop from the Kinetic Basics die.  To adhere these pieces I used foam tape.  I finally adhered the layers to the card base.

By adhering the main image to the underside of the front curve it will also follow the curve.  I secured it with foam tape to keep it in place.

Cool Huh?!  Your Turn!!
