All About the Base – Card in a Box

Today you get two cards with a similar concept, but very different look.  You will get inspiration on a piggy-theme card, as well as a military or 4th of July card.   I am excited to showcase the Card in a Box from The Stamp Doctor on both these cards.  The fun interactive card bases have so much potential beyond how I photographed them, and I know you will love to get your hands on these.  You have a choice of horizontal or vertical (or both) depending on what you choose, and the dies make these bases so easy to make!

You will find the links to not only the bases, but the products used on these cards in the descriptions below.  Be sure and scroll down to see both cards.

Creating this Card:

First thing was to create this A2 Card in a Box using my die cut machine.  This die fits in all standard die cut machines easily.  Once the box was assembled, I kept it flat in order to add all the fun layers on to the card.   You can send this card through the mail folded flat as you see it is above, or with the sides folded up, allowing many different looks.  You can check out the VIDEO HERE for assembling.

I stamped the sweet piggies from the stamp set Oink from Newtons Nook Designs, and hand cut them out.  You do have the option to purchase the outline dies to make it quicker.  The piggies were added to the inside pieces of the box, as well as the outside.  There is actually a little piggy under the flap of the card that shows when the box is folded flat.   Using the sentiments that come in the set, I die cut them with Whimsy’s Comic Speech Bubble dies and adhered them to the card.

Here are the products used in this card.

Creating this Card:

This card opens on the long end, thus I call it the horizontal Card in a Box.  If you look at the piggy card you will see it opens on the shorter end, and I refer to it as the vertical box.  This A2 Card in the Box #2 also has optional stitch dies, of which I used when I created this card to give it that special touch.  I love that it’s an option for the layers.

I have been wanting to use this Military die set, as well as this Military Heroes stamp set for a while.  With the 4th of July right around the corner, I thought now was the perfect time.  The Bold ABC die was perfect for creating the “USA”, that was placed over the Upon a Star border, and the rest of the stars spread around the card are also from this set.  I stamped all the panels using the Brushed Stripes background stamp in red Memento ink to represent flag stripes.

No matter which Card in a Box you buy, be sure and watch the video below to see how the card is easily assembled.
