Did you know you can create a dimensional item using velum? For this little bit of creative card making I used the newly released Ballet Marci from La-La Land Crafts. Being a girly card of course I had to use pink. To “balance” (get it?) out the pink I accented it with black. I feel it “turned” out pretty well “rounded”…I crack my self up!
How cool would this technique be to create your own flowers. I have been using this technique for quite a while but had never done it for a tutu so I was super happy with the results. All you need to do to achieve this result is to cut your shapes, adhere together and then spritz with water or a water-based glitter spray. I keep tweezers close by because as the velum starts to curl you will want to separate the layers. Being that I am impatient I will also grab out my heat gun and speed up the process. Once dry I added some yummy Nuvo Crystal drops to the edges of the skirt to look like pearls.
I am sure you know some sweet little girl that would love to receive this cute card. This is the perfect time to try out the curling effect with some of that stash of vellum you have. Here is a little tip…If you only have white, color it with your Copic markers first. Let it dry (or heat set it) and then spritz with water and watch the magic.
